Thermal Expansion Valves for W123 & W126. Corrosion and debris can clog the TXV on older systems, causing oil starvation at the compressor.  Replacement of this component is required in order to qualify for compressor warranty.

 

There were two main types of TXV used in the W123:

     

  • Type 1 (123 830 1184) is a 1.5 ton TXV. It has two #8 fittings which connect to the evaporator, and a #6 liquid inlet and a #10 outlet. Fits 240D to VIN# 169394; 300D to VIN#181803; 300CD to VIN# 006929; 300TD VIN# 015279.
     

  • Type 2 (126 830 0384) is a 2 ton TXV with a #8 and #10 evaporator connection, and a #6 liquid inlet and a #10 outlet. Fits all  turbo W123 models. Fits 240D from VIN#169395; 300D from VIN#181804; 300CD from VIN# 006930; 300TD from VIN#015280.

 
Note that all W126 body vehicles (300SD), all use Type 2 above.
